Top-grafting in a Research Orchard

A bucket-lift allows John to work at the top of a Loblolly pine (Pinus taeda) to graft scion from a different Loblolly pine selection onto this one. The process of grafting to the top of a tree promotes flowering in the grafted material (scion), which allows for crosses to be made sooner. Since you can graft many selections to one tree, multiple crosses can be made in an efficient manner.
